1 – Introduction – How I Found Out About Holistic Health and Microbiology + Super-doctors
2 – Background Information
3 – Food History
4 – Food Secrets
I wrote a book about everything I have learned about holistic health and the human microbiome, this book contains two books called The Book of Secrets and Encapsulating Capsules. The Book Of Secrets is first because it’s more of an overview about microbiology and holistic health. Encapsulating Capsules is more about how we can heal our microbiomes with natural foods from the Earth.
Instead of rewriting my book for this course, I decided to make videos of the important sections that prove the importance of the microbiome.

Part 1- Intro to Microbes and How I Found Out About Microbiology
Strangely enough, the only reason I became interested in holistic health is after learning about corporate greed in college studying Marketing. I soon learned that instead of providing value to customers, marketers and business professionals today are more interested in manipulating people’s wants and desires to make them buy whatever product they sell, so they can make more money. Providing value and especially long-term value isn’t really a concern, as I learned. This gave me a fresh perspective on the world. I realized it’s my responsibility as a consumer to not rely on big business or anyone for accurate information. I started researching different industries. After a short time, I came across the food industry and pharmaceutics/ medical industry. To my surprise they operate basically the same way as everyone else, even more aggressive in some cases. (selling toxic food and soft drinks to people in third world countries creating an epidemic of chronic disease to local populations). In America, these companies and conglomerates spend billions of dollars every year “lobbing” congress and everyone in Washington D.C to let them sell unethical products in the US market.
This made me have a totally blank slate on health information. I locked myself in my room in college one week and did a deep dive on all things health and food to get a true understand of my body.
Before this I always felt unhealthy, I’ve had daily stomach problems, bad focus, low energy, impulsivity, bad sleep, and I just thought it was normal. But I kept eating the standard American diet because it’s what I’ve always done, and it’s what everyone else does.
In my research I was overwhelmed with all the health information. Eventually I found a light at the end of the tunnel, and that was living in balance way with mother nature. I was learning about holistic health, microorganisms, alternative diets, what animals ate, and more. Again, I was overwhelmed, but I knew I was on the right track. After learning about this new information, I decided to get a minor in holistic health at the beginning of my junior year and took classes like Real Food, Eastern Approach to Nutrition, The Medical Humanities, Aging and Spirituality, and more. These classes reinforced what I was learning on my own.
After graduating, I continued to study holistic health and decided to write down everything I learned. For my own personal journey and so I can share this information. In my opinion and many others, the biggest underlying factor in our health, is the health of our human microbiome. This book’s goal is to explain what the microbiome is, why its important, why this information isn’t common knowledge, and how to heal and rebuild our microbiome. Hopefully a few people at least will be able to avoid the common health confusion and start out on the right path. Because for me and many others, our health held us back in life from being the confident, high-energy version of ourselves we know we are deep down. Lack of proper health information not only leads to low confidence, but it leads to regrets and depression over time. I want to prevent as many people as possible from falling into this trap. Our lives are stressful enough as is.
All living humans, animals and plants have a microbiome. Which is the ecosystem of microorganisms that live in our intestines, skin, hair…everywhere. These microbes digest the minerals and vitamins out of our food. They repair the body on a cellular level. They work with the immune system in a big way, and much more. The good microbes eat fruits, vegetables and nuts. When you feed your microbiome what it needs, it promotes overall health and wellness in all aspects of our body and mind. Today we can’t really study microbes, unless we use rats or very expensive studies over months. So, doctors and pharmaceutical companies have completely neglected to care about patients’ microbiomes. Antibiotics, most pharmaceutical drugs, added sugar, sweeteners, alcohol, processed foods, greasy food and stress all deplete microbe colonies in the GI tract.
But there is still hope for us and our microbes. It’s been right in front of us the whole time. Our planet provides foods that not only energize our body with life but heal our bodies as well. The reality is that our bodies are really an extension of the earth. This approach to life is how people survived before hospitals. They lived with the Earth. They knew about every plant in a 50-mile radius, had cooking traditions and medical knowledge past down for thousands of years. With the internet today we can look back at all the ancient cultures and analyze what they ate and what their relationship with food and medicine was. As you will find out in this book, ancient medical practices, and food culture from Asia to south America have similarities that we have ignored or has been buried.
But scientists today are finding unwavering proof of the importance of the human microbiome by learning about what our ancestors ate and studying the microbiomes of ingeniousness tribes today. Across the world over the past 10 years breakthrough studies by major research groups have found undisputable evidence of the unseen benefits of a healthy and diverse microbiome has. Some of these certain microbes have been shown to cure chronic disease. But this book is about preventing chronic disease and all health problems.
To help me show you the value of a healthy microbiome, the first section of the book has biographies and links to lectures to some of what I call “super doctors” and microbe researchers. These guys have worked in the medical industry for years, giving patients the same prescription they learned to in college, watching them slowly die, helpless. Until one day they decided to be proactive and keep learning and researching. This led them back to Mother Earth and the miracles the simplicity of life has to offer. As most of them realized for themselves, that if they tell patients to limit processed food and focus on plant foods and high-quality proteins for three weeks. The results were low blood pressure, significate and almost unbelievable drop in LDL Cholesterol, low blood sugar, effortless weight loss, high energy, clear skin and more. Many of them were so driven by these results they started research foundations and doing the science to prove the benefits of a diet high in plants.
Chapter 2 is about these doctors and their work. Chapter 3 is about the current health of American’s. Chapter 4 is where the book really starts. Chapter 2 and 3 will give helpful context for the rest.
Part 2 Super Doctors and Microbe Researchers
Before I became interested in holistic health, I had no idea about anything. This made it very difficult to find accurate information. Thankfully while getting a minor in holistic health my professor in the course Real Foods introduced us to current doctors that were making medical breakthroughs prescribing a high plant diet. But these doctors are not just seeing patients, now they travel the country giving lectures on their research promoting this “silver bullet” to health. Because they graduated from medical school and helped patients for years they can understand and explain complex data from studies into simple information for everyone. In my opinion they are the backbone of the organic and plant-based movements in America and are on the front lines battling the billion-dollar food conglomerates that don’t want us understanding the complex food science and system. I recommend watching one of the video links to one of these doctors’ lectures to get a sense of the passion they have about their work. These doctors have given a legitimacy to a high plant diet after proving it with bloodwork and individual studies coming up with same results. Many of these doctors have still not made the connecting to a high plant diet and the microbiome. At the end of the list I had doctors that have focused in on the microbiome. Watching these videos will help you understand the rest of the book more if holistic health is a new topic to you. It will also sink in that this is very real and new science. If you watch them all you will know more about current medical and health science than 90% of the planet.
Dr. T. Colin Campbell
Dr. Campbell studied biochemistry at MIT and Cornell University. He stayed at Cornell and became a professor, he is still the head of the nutritional biochemistry department at Cornell. He has been given 70 grants for research. In Real Foods when we read the China Study about Dr. T. Colin Campbell’s work on how different parts of the world get protein. He discovered that places where people ate mostly fruits, vegetables, nuts, a little meat, and no processed food; had almost no cancer, obesity, or heart disease, in the community. He called these blue zones. Where people lived an active lifestyle and consumed only 10% of their protein from animals. They lived till old age, and with very low risk of chronic disease. As opposed to in America where we get 80% of our protein from animals. And the animals that we eat are given unnatural products like antibiotics, candy, GMO corn and fertilizer runoff. Dr. Campbell wasn’t the first to find these blue zones but was the first to do real data testing on them. And compared them to our western diet. He is a big advocate for whole foods instead of quick fix medicine. In his lectures and Ted talks he always brings up how medical doctors are given no nutritional training during their time at school.
https://nutritionstudies.org/about/dr-t-colin-campbell/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmWoWOM16uE Ted talk by Dr. Campbell titled “Why is the Science of Nutrition Ignored in Medicine?”
He determined that he was going to go into health care after watching his high school sweethearts mother eat “junk food” all the time and eventually develop colon cancer, and died. He was determined to find a link between cancer and processed food. They ended up getting married. His son made a documentary called Plant Pure Nation where Colin and his wife talk about this. This documentary is more about the story of how Dr. Campbell’s son Nelson Campbell has been fighting for the federal and state governments to make the plant based studies and research public, but he shows how difficult this is because so many people are employed in the meal industry in the south especially and elected officials want to protect the meat industry at all costs. Even though obesity and chronic disease rates are so high in the south.
Dr. Neal Barnard
Dr. Bernard is the president and founder of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. His research has led him to become an advocate for a plant based diet. He believes that the standard American diet is even more carcinogenic than smoking. He has sued the USDA multiple times for giving outdated information to the public regarding food. I highly recommend watching his speeches. He has been doing this for so long and has used science to disprove negative claims about a vegan diet. https://www.pcrm.org/about-us/staff/neal-barnard-md-facc

Caldwell Esselstyn, MD
Dr. Esselstyn has written multiple books on the simple concept of plant based diets to reduce chances of heart disease and is now working on his heart rate reversal program at the Cleveland Clinic. He believes that heart disease stems from having an unhealthy endothelial system which stops its ability to produce nitric oxide. Which he calls “the great protector and savor of the artery.” He talks about this in the youtube link below. It’s by plantbasednew.com and they are like the new vegan NYT in my opinion.

Dean Ornish, MD
Dr. Ornish has been one of the most influential plant based doctors whose data show indisputable evidence to the health benefits of plant based diets. For multiple chronic illnesses. He attended Harvard medical school. Was one of the first to discover how you can turn off cancer promoting genes by making the lifestyle choice to go plant based. He also discovered through tests that you can reverse coronary heart disease without pharmaceuticals or surgery, but by making the plant based lifestyle choice. Dr. Ornish is the founder and president of the nonprofit Preventive Medicine Research Institute in Sausalito, Calif. His website is https://www.ornish.com/ and in big letters on the homepage he has “LOVE YOUR LIFE.” Amazing guy who’s actually saving the world.

Michael Greger, MD
Dr. Gregor is a licensed general physician and specializes in clinical nutrition. He is one of the founders of the Fellow of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. He has been in the public eye for a while appearing on multiple late night shows! He was an expert witness on the Oprah meat defamation case in 2017 (if you talk negatively about eating meat or the industry they sue you instantly.) He was also invited to teach at Dr. Colin Campbell’s plant based nutrition course at Cornell university.

The doctors and microbe explorers below I learned about on my own. All are licensed or experts and not Youtubers like me. Like the others they all have a unique story and personal reason to try out a vegan diet. These doctors/experts offer free information and miraculous results with patients and it’s almost impossible to find a news article or anything mainstream about them.
Kim A. Williams, MD
Dr. Williams is the chief of the division of cardiology at Rush University, and a professor. Former President of American college of cardiology. Dr. Williams only found out about the vegan diet in 2013 but since then has become a popular public figure offering his expertise of the science from a cardiology expert. He is honored annually for the past 10 years as one of the best doctors in America.

He was a gardener and a heart surgeon until he was 95. Died at 104. Dr. Wareham was a vegan for 50 years before he died. He was on many late night shows like Dr. Oz and Oprah. Dr. Wareham discovered blue zone theory. He also traveled the world performing heart surgery and multiple websites say he did 12,000 heart surgeries in his career. He also was in WW2. And graduated from Loma Linda University in 1942. When people asked him how he was so healthy for such an old age he always said it was due to his faith in god and the vegan diet.

Dr. Milton Mills.
Dr. Mills got his medical degree from Stanford University. He currently practices urgent care medicine. He is a member of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), and served as the Associate Director of Preventive Medicine and was on the National Advisory Board. He has focused his research on the relationship a plant based diet has on the immune system, after learning that a plant based diet increases T cells.

Dr. Danielle Belardo
Dr. Belardo got a M.D. from Drexel University, specializing in cardiovascular disease. She also went to Temple to study internal medicine. She opened up her own cardiovascular group in Philadelphia. She promotes the vegan diet to patients and has been able to reverse some serious disease. Now people fly across the country and world to come see her, after they discover the amazing success stories. She did a podcast with plant based news and she talks about seeing her father, who was a “healthy carnivore” and he still had heart disease at 60. She says he did triathlons, and ate a lot of fruit and vegetables, but still had meat and dairy consistently and developed heart disease and had to get two stents in his heart. This showed her that even healthy meat eaters are still at risk of getting heart disease. She told him to go plant based and he did and got better.

Robert Lustig M.D.
Dr. Lustig an Endocrinologist at the University of California San Francisco(UCSF). He also has a degree in nutritional biochemistry from MIT and went to medical school after. I talk about him more below in the sugar section. He gave a lecture at Stanford University in 2006 and it’s an incredible lecture on why added sugar is in 75% of our food and says this has a direct link to the obesity problem in America. Sugar calories turn into visceral fat which is hard to burn and can lead to disease. So in his lecture he explains a calorie is NOT a calorie. And is passionate about spreading awareness that a calorie is not a calorie. He talks about how sugar is a poison like alcohol and extremely bad for children and the type 2 diabetes problem in America is due to children being fed added sugar daily. He even went to law school to learn how he can help start a class action lawsuit against companies that put sugar in products just to make it addicting on a molecular level, to improve sales.

Celebrity Nutritionist Chef AJ– famous chef and vegan nutritionist
Chef AJ is a vegan chef, nutritionist and celebrity. She has been vegan for 40 years. She is the host of a television series called Healthy Living with Chef AJ which airs on Foody TV. She has been a guest on the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and The Late Show with David Letterman. She also wrote a book called The Secrets to Ultimate Weight Loss: A Revolutionary Approach to Conquer Cravings, Overcome Food Addiction and Lose Weight Without Going Hungry, and Unprocessed. She worked as an executive chef in LA and became popular for making tasty pastries without added sugar, oil, dairy, and gluten. I watched an interview she had with Forks Over Knives and she explains her secret which is caloric density. Caloric density refers to how much calories per pound are in food. Simply put, vegetables and fruit are very low in caloric density. While meat, dairy, breads, sugars, and fats are extremely high in caloric density. So it’s hard to get fat if you eat only low calorically dense food and extremely easy to get fat if you eat high density foods.

Microbe explorers:
William Li M.D.
Dr. Li is a “world renown physician,” molecular biologist, scientist, speaker, and director of the Angiogenesis Foundation. He has had some amazing discoveries regarding how the chemicals in food react to our bodies. And he is also passionate about sharing what he has learned about the microbiome, even though that is not his field of expertise. In a lecture he gave at Santara Institute he goes over five things and how they are all affected by how we eat, and that work together like the branches of the military. I haven’t read his book but I wanted to add this in and the link to this talk will be below. He also says our bodies are built like medieval castles. To introduce this idea that these five different systems work together to defend the castle, our body and its citizens, our microbes.
Dr. Li talks about how we can improve all these things below, with natural foods.
Androgenesis: Regeneration of blood cells and vessels. Simmered tomatoes, olives, fruit peels. Mediterranean diet.
Stem Cells: Regeneration of cells: Intermittent fasting. Mediterranean diet. Food for stem cell regeneration he offers: blueberries, collard greens, dark chocolate, goji berries, green tea, mangos, pistachios, turmeric and a few more. Bad for stem cells: high fat diet. High salt diet.
Microbiome: He talks about two types of microbes and how they can affect our bodies. He addresses how studies on microbes can only be done on rats so we know very little about microbes in the scientific community. Says we are 50% human cells and 50% microbiome cells…And that we have at least 37 trillion microbes in our bodies. Also provides a list of chronic diseases that have been proven to be linked to an unbalanced microbiome.
He discusses how studies done in rats show that this could be a huge breakthrough in the medical field. He theorizes that lactobacillus can help hosts control weight, improve sleep, and fight disease. And provides foods that have lactobacillus: kimchi, sauerkraut, poi cia, kiwi. lactobacillus reuteri: sourdough bread. He says the lactobacillus reuteri has been shown to fight breast cancer. Also that mothers give lactobacillus reuteri to babies right before they are born.
-Firmicutes: poi cia, kimchi.
-Bifidobacterium: kimchi.
He says we could have a week long conference on the microbiome and still not even scratch the surface.
-DNA: “We have good and bad DNA.” Turmeric helps good DNA and blocks bad DNA.
-Immune System: lactobacillus has been shown to boost the immune system. Dr. Li shows picture from a Israeli research institute that indicates our immune cells are in constant communication with each other and with other cells in the body. Adding to his point that the immune system is working with other body systems to defend the body. Also says cancer cells can only grow if they can escape the immune system. Talks about immunotherapy which is about fixing the immune system to kill cancer cells instead of trying to kill cancer cells with chemo or other treatment. Talks about how Dr. Li’s mother and Jimmy Carter had cancer spreading but got immunotherapy transfusions and the cancer went away. But unfortunately Immunotherapy is extremely expensive. And he says it only shows powerful results if a patient has a certain microbe in the body before treatment and says the only way to grow back this sensitive bacteria is with pomegranate juice. Also shows studies that oysters and broccoli sprouts have compounds to fight cancer growth. And provides a study that shows that broccoli sprouts improved immune cells by 22% in one experiment.
He ends this talk with expressing his belief that disease prevention should not start when we get sick but instead by choosing to arm these body systems with foods that help them fight disease all the time. He offers a chart with 26 common foods that contain compounds that benefit all 5 systems he discusses. Some of them are blueberries, peaches, plums, apricots, nectarines, eggplant, kale, dark chocolate, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts.

William Davis M.D
Dr. Davis is a cardiologist, researcher, and author. I saw an amazing microbe related lecture he gave and needed to add him to the list of super doctors. On his website and books he focuses on eliminating wheat from the diet. I will summarize the lecture he gave at the Institute for Human & Machine Cognition. The link to the YouTube video will be below as well.
He starts off by addressing the extreme conditions the earth is in. Then makes a connection between the microbes by saying, “just like we are destroying our planet, we’re destroying our microbiome.” And that we are also destroying the diversity in the microbiome. And lists how this is happening.
-Antibiotics: Kills all microbes, good and bad.
-C-section: C-section babies don’t get mothers microbes.
-Emulsifying agents: Synthetic sweeteners.
-Drugs: Big pharma doesn’t test how drugs affect microbes. FDA doesn’t either.
-Chlorinated water: Drinking tap water
-Herbicides and pesticides: Toxic chemicals on plants.
Then he talks about what keystone species are. Plankton are keystone species because they affect all the other sea life around them. No plankton, then no fish, then no whale (plankton eat diatomaceous earth, So DE is the ultimate keystone species of life and yes they are alive). And he says this is the same with our microbiome. He offers the audience two keystone microbe species and how we can grow them back.
– bifidobacterium infantis
-lactobacillus reuteri
He says these microbes can help: “control weight, have smooth skin, reduce inflammation, make infants and kids healthier, reduce joint pain, recover faster, improve muscle strength, deep sleep and vivid dreams, bone density, promote happiness, improves immune response, accelerated healing, and age reversal.” He then talks about how you can make your own microbe yogurt that is way more potent than any probiotic pills. He also gives the companies he uses to buy microbes and they were EVCOO1. I haven’t tried this super yogurt.

Christopher A. Lowry- Ted talk info
Dr. Lowry is a neurochemist who specializes in depression, and PTSD. He was asked to help write a paper called “the American Gut Project.” When conducting a study to see if the variety of fruits and vegetables you eat has an effect on the gut; they asked people how many different fruits and vegetables they eat in a week. They discovered that those that ate 30 or more fruits and vegetables had a healthier microbiome and he even called it the ideal microbiome. This inspired him to try having 30 vegetables and fruits in a day. He uses a blender and saves a big jug and has a glass with dinner every night. After noticing changes in himself he has been a microbe enthusiast ever since. He also talks about how mammals have been burrowing in soil since Jurassic times, so we have evolved with “soil microbes.” And ends the talk by advising parents to let kids play in dirt, to strengthen microbiome and bring diversity. This is another doctor that seems to not understand the difference between parasites and microbes. Most of these “soil microbes” are deep in the soil, the wet surface soil is loaded with parasite larvae from compromised flies. And mammals have really been competing and evolving with parasites that consider humans hosts they can live off. (8, 9) Still it’s a great lecture and I highly recommend watching it. I just wouldn’t recommend letting children eat dirt. And this also enforces how you do want to wash your hands because you don’t want unknown microbes getting in your body. When you eat an apple, you know you’re getting the microbes from the apple. When you open a door you don’t know what is on it. I would recommend washing your hands with organic soap, synthetic soaps are very harmful to skin microbes. Which I talk about in the non-food related secrets section.

Danielle Arseuault – Microbe Adventurer
Danielle is a microbe researcher. She learned everything she knows from exploring different parts of the world, learning what they eat and how they prepare food. Founder of Pachavega Living Foods Education, Danielle is a Raw Food Chef, Educator and Plant-based Nutrition Expert.
Danielle gave a very simple yet amazing Ted talk exposing natural super microbe foods from around the world. She starts off by saying imagine a world where all the information from all the ancient sages around the world for the past thousands of years could be learned and used. And follows up with, “that our world!” And ever since she was a little girl growing plants in schools and in her garden; the power of plants amazed her. Also that she’s been “listening” to her gut since she was little and started questioning how foods give us energy and affect us.
This made her very curious and she started her plant based exploration in Puerto Rico where she learned about sprouts and the raw foods plant based diet. Sprouts are eaten all over the world except Europe and America traditionally. She says sprouted legumes are a complete protein and are packed with vitamins and minerals. And no super salad is complete without sprouts.
The second secret she found was in South Korea. And that is seaweed and algae. She was shocked walking around the markets and seeing so many types of seaweed. Fish get omega 3’s because they eat algae. Algae and seaweed grow at an exponential rate when conditions are right and because of that is a cheap and healthy food. Algae and seaweed also have iodine.
The last secret she also learned in Korea was fermented raw foods like kimchi, miso, and sauerkraut. Fermented foods date back 12,000 years and were discovered to be used in India, South Africa, Spain, and all over Asia. She mentions these foods aren’t just packed with nutrients and fiber, but are full of probiotics. Which are healthy microbes. Fermenting foods exponentially grows the already present colonies of microbes in the vegetable or fruit being fermented. But cabbage has been the most popular fermented food in Asia. Especially Kora where they have a tradition of taking a day off work to prepare a year’s worth of kimchi. Kimchi is fermented cabbage and spices.

And these expert doctors don’t really have any tangible information, just a bunch of facts and a confusing message. Danielle’s talk is filled with information and practical knowledge that’s easy to understand.
Part 2 – Background Information
The problems. Our problems. (which might just stem from having an unhealthy microbiome; which is directly related to bad diet)
In my opinion if you’re a human, healthy or unhealthy, parent or not. This is our problem. We cannot let the pharmaceutical companies fix everything for us because they are failing us and the planet miserably; and clearly when billions of dollars of profits are involved humans are incapable of seeing or even caring about future consequences for our health or the planet; or even caring to look. I love the idea of capitalism and the free market, but unfortunately some companies have become so big that they can influence what we want for their own financial gain. And that is not ok. Businesses should solve problems for customers. We should all be researching everything and not accepting what someone “smarter” than us thinks. Our choice is our power. Below are problems we face in today’s civilized world. Everything in quotes is sited from a website below.
Mental health
Depression
“Youth mental health is worsening. 9.7% of youth in the U.S. have severe major depression, compared to 9.2% in last year’s dataset.
Even before COVID-19, the prevalence of mental illness among adults was increasing. In 2017-2018, 19% of adults experienced a mental illness, an increase of 1.5 million people over last year’s dataset.”
https://mhanational.org/issues/state-mental-health-america
“It’s estimated that 16.2 million adults in the United States, or 6.7 percent of American adults, have had at least one major depressive episode in a given year.”
https://www.healthline.com/health/depression/facts-statistics-infographic#Types-of-depression
Suicide
“Suicidal ideation among adults is increasing. The percentage of adults in the U.S. who are experiencing serious thoughts of suicide increased 0.15% from 2016-2017 to 2017-2018 – an additional 460,000 people from last year’s dataset.”

Suicide is a Leading Cause of Death in the United States
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) WISQARS Leading Causes of Death Reports, in 2019:
“Suicide was the tenth leading cause of death overall in the United States, claiming the lives of over 47,500 people.”
“Suicide was the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34, and the fourth leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 35 and 44.”
“There were nearly two and a half times as many suicides (47,511) in the United States as there were homicides (19,141).”
https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/statistics/suicide
Schizophrenia
“Patients diagnosed with schizophrenia are four to six times more likely to commit a violent crime than the general population. (International Journal of Clinical Neurosciences and Mental Health, 2015).
6% of homicide acts are committed by schizophrenia patients in Western countries. (International Journal of Clinical Neurosciences and Mental Health, 2015)
Schizophrenia is one of the top 15 leading causes of disability worldwide. (Global Burden of Disease, 2016)”
The prevalence of schizophrenia among U.S adults is estimated to be 1.5 million people per year. (National Alliance on Mental Illness, 2019)
Schizophrenia is often diagnosed in young people during their late teens to early 30s with symptoms commonly presenting earlier in males than in females. (National Institute of Mental Health, 2018)
The average life lost for individuals with schizophrenia in the U.S. is 28.5 years. (JAMA Psychiatry, 2015)” https://www.singlecare.com/blog/news/schizophrenia-statistics/
Chronic disease
Obesity“The prevalence of obesity was 42.4% in 2017~2018.”
“The estimated annual medical cost of obesity in the United States was $147 billion in 2008 US dollars. Medical costs for people who had obesity was $1,429 higher than medical costs for people with healthy weight.” https://www.cdc.gov/obesity/data/adult.html
Heart Disease
“Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women.
One person dies every 36 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease.1
About 655,000 Americans die from heart disease each year—that’s 1 in every 4 deaths. Heart disease costs the United States about $219 billion each year from 2014 to 2015.”
https://www.cdc.gov/heartdisease/facts.htm
Cancer
“In 2020, an estimated 1,806,590 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States and 606,520 people will die from the disease.”
“Estimated national expenditures for cancer care in the United States in 2018 were $150.8 billion. In future years, costs are likely to increase as the population ages and more people have cancer. Costs are also likely to increase as new, and often more expensive, treatments are adopted as standards of care.” https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/understanding/statistics
Type 2 Diabetes.
Early onset type 2 diabetes epidemic in America. 1 in 3 people born after 2000 will get type 2 diabetes (Dr. Williams). It has been claimed that our continued consumption of processed synthetic sugary food is deteriorating our pancreas to a point where it is so weak it can’t regulate the body’s blood sugar.

Basic Microbiome Information from Cited Sources.
How can such a developed and technologically advanced country be losing so many people due to bad health? Before I questioned the health of America I took for granted that these illnesses were genetic and just happen like we’ve all been told. Then when I started looking at the business side I assumed it was because companies sell food we like at cheap prices so we just have bad self-control as a county. Then I started reading about microbiology, and our own personal microbiome. And my perspective on health, food, and illnesses changed entirely. We think that what we see is the only thing that matters, and worth fearing, but the microbes prove that we have to reexamine the unseen world.
A potential reason for WHY we have this problem of chronic disease and mental illness in my unprofessional opinion is, and in most of the doctor’s professional opinions mentioned above. Microbiology. The silver bullet. The link between food and our bodies health. And if you think “how can microbiology be the solution?” It’s not the solution but simply being aware of its working will change the way you eat. Eating fruits, vegetables, and nuts feed the good bacteria. These bacteria boost our immune system, they break down and absorb the minerals and vitamins in our food and use them to help our body, and much more. And eating processed foods, added sugars, and meat feed pathogens(parasites) and destroy healthy microbe colonies.
The cause? NO parasite testing has been done on humans for almost 150 years. It is considered unethical. But after reading multiple books on parasites I’ve learned scientists use rats, birds, insects… (almost all living animals/insects/fish can be a host) in experiments and the way they can prove manipulation was terrifying to me. And made me keep reading…I don’t want to dive into that info yet. The next two pages are just basic information about microbes that I cited from official sources or companies. And below that is finally what I want to tell you all about and that is the cheap ways mother earth gave us to easily alkalize and cleanse our bodies to naturally stay healthy. So don’t let these definitions scare you but you won’t understand the use for these herbs, fruits, vegetables, and powders if you don’t know who’s using them, and that is our microbes. Which is beyond to “be healthy” but to feed the good bacteria that we need to be truly nourished.
Gut Microbes: “Trillions of bacteria live in your digestive tract and play an important role in health. Of the thousands of species of gut microbes that live in your gut, however, some are healthy for your body—while others are not.”
A healthful plant-based diet improves the health and diversity of your gut microbes, preventing and treating conditions like obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and inflammation associated with autoimmune diseases.” https://www.pcrm.org/health-topics/gut-bacteria (Dr. Neal Barnard’s foundation)
Medicalnewstoday.com article about what our gut microbes eat. This article shows how little the scientific community really knows about microbes, in my opinion. This is because these bacteria are inside of us so studying them is hard especially in the west where we need scientific proof, or it’s considered inconclusive and everyone moves on.https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/326256#animal-protein
Microbiome: “Both inside and out, our bodies harbor a huge array of microorganisms. While bacteria are the biggest players, we also host single-celled organisms known as archaea, as well as fungi, viruses and other microbes – including viruses that attack bacteria. Together these are dubbed the human microbiota. Your body’s microbiome is all the genes your microbiota contains, however colloquially the two terms are often used interchangeably.”
https://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/ss/slideshow-microbiome-overview Webmd.com microbe slideshow.
“There is considerable evidence showing that the gut microbiome not only affects the digestive, metabolic, and immune functions of the host but also regulates host sleep and mental states through the microbiome-gut-brain axis.”
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6290721/
Up until my junior year in college I felt like our bodies and science were so complex that it’s best to just use the common health info given to us by doctors, parents, schools and government. I deeply regret this complacency. But unfortunately obviously I’m not alone. Thankfully it’s really simple, this is why I feel health information is so confusing. They not only want us to just accept what to eat but also not even bother looking into it. But the microbiome is the simple part and the most important. It explains why fruits, vegetables and nuts are good for us, and that is because that is the ONLY food that feeds the good microbes; that want to help our body grow and repair tissue. Other types of microbes called parasites NEED animal protein and sugar to survive. And these microbes’ prime concern is to feed and breed in hosts. Armed with this SIMPLE knowledge I have no desire to eat meat and added sugar anymore. In the past I thought calories are what mattered, and getting enough protein from animals. But that is just so wrong and totally unsustainable. I truly hope this simple info on the microbiome empowers you like it has for me. And you are excited to learn how you can heal and rebuild your microbiome and your body using natural foods and herbs.
Probiotics: Probiotics are live bacteria that are good for you, especially your digestive system. We usually think of these as germs that cause diseases. But your body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called “good” or “helpful” bacteria because they help keep your gut healthy, which keeps your body and mind healthy.
You can find probiotics in supplements and some foods, like yogurt. Doctors often suggest them to help with digestive problems.
https://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/what-are-probiotics
Fermented foods and fruits, vegetables and nuts all have healthy bacteria and each one is different. I talk about this below but probiotic pills are in my opinion, a scam, and an expensive one. All fruits nuts and vegetables have probiotics in them already. And they have prebiotics.
Prebiotics: Prebiotics are plant fibers that help healthy bacteria grow in your gut. This makes your digestive system work better.
Both prebiotics and probiotics are good for your gut, but they help in different ways.
“Prebiotics are a source of food for your gut’s healthy bacteria. They’re complex carbs your body can’t digest without the microbes help. So they go to your lower digestive tract, where they act like food to help the healthy bacteria grow.”
https://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/prebiotics-overview
Immune system: Our immune system is essential for our survival. Without an immune system, our bodies would be open to attack from bacteria, viruses, parasites, and more. It is our immune system that keeps us healthy as we drift through a sea of pathogens.
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/320101
Immune system and gut health: “Behind the curtain, our gut is responsible for putting our body into working order. As it breaks down the foods we eat, our gut absorbs nutrients that support our body’s functions — from energy production to hormone balance, skin health to mental health, and even toxin and waste elimination. In fact, about 70 percent of the immune system is housed in the gut, so making sure our digestive system is in tip-top shape can be key to addressing many of our bodily woes.” https://www.healthline.com/health/digestive-health/things-your-gut-wants-you-to-know
Dysbiosis: “Your body is full of colonies of harmless bacteria known as microbiota. Most of these bacteria have a positive effect on your health and contribute to your body’s natural processes. But when one of these bacterial colonies is out of balance, it can lead to dysbiosis. Dysbiosis typically occurs when the bacteria in your gastrointestinal (GI) tract — which includes your stomach and intestines — become unbalanced.
Common symptoms include: bad breath, upset stomach, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, difficulty urinating, vaginal or rectal itching, bloating, chest pain, rash or redness, fatigue, having trouble thinking or concentrating, anxiety, depression.” https://www.healthline.com/health/digestive-health/dysbiosis
Vegan diet: More about restricting animal products from diet.
Plant based diet: Diet focused around eating mostly plant foods. So a diet that is 75-90 % plant foods.
Asymptomatic: Asymptomatic means that no symptoms or signs of disease are present.
https://www.webmd.com/diabetes/qa/what-is-the-definition-of-asymptomatic
This is here because most of the manipulative parasites and the trillions of microbes can be completely asymptomatic.
I don’t want to freak anyone out with the next few definitions but the truth is just how scientists know very little about the microbiome and microbes in humans, we know even less about how parasites interact with humans. We do know that these manipulative asymptomatic parasites need animal protein and sugar to survive. We also know how they affect animals, almost all animals from fish and ocean life to reptiles, mammals and insects. I will make a separate book about what I’ve learned about parasites. If you want to learn more about these supervillains check out (10) This is Your Brain on Parasites, by Kathleen Mcauliffe and (11) Parasite Rex, by Carl Zimmerman. These two books go in-depth on the history of parasites and mostly how they interact with animals. The Book of Secrets focuses on how we can use natural foods and herbs to make out immune system and microbiome so strong that parasites can’t survive, by only feeding the good microbes by eating fruits vegetables and nuts. But I don’t want to spent too much time on parasites because it’s terrifying and disgusting to us humans. As most people I talk to about it instantly are turned off by the topic and insist that parasites only effect third world countries, and people who don’t cook food long enough. But the truth is that they are so smart modern science can’t understand them and especially how they operate in humans. But the good thing is that can’t survive in a host that doesn’t eat animal protein or too much sugar.
Parasite definition: A parasite is an organism that lives on or in a host organism and gets its food from or at the expense of its host. There are three main classes of parasites that can cause disease in humans: protozoa, helminths, and ectoparasites.
https://www.cdc.gov/parasites/about.html
Hookworms: “An estimated 576-740 million people in the world are infected with hookworm. Hookworm was once widespread in the United States, particularly in the southeastern region, but improvements in living conditions have greatly reduced hookworm infections. Hookworm, Ascaris, and whipworm are known as soil-transmitted helminths (parasitic worms). Together, they account for a major burden of disease worldwide.”
https://www.cdc.gov/parasites/hookworm/index.html
Roundworms: “Roundworms are parasites that live in host’s intestines. A parasite is a creature that lives in or on another creature in order to survive. They have long round bodies and range in size. Roundworms can live in or on humans, and can cause many problems. They are usually found in soil and stool and can enter the body through the mouth or direct contact with the skin. They can live in the human intestine for a very long time. There are several types of roundworms and they can all be quite harmful.”
https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/15240-roundworms
Toxoplasma: “Toxoplasmosis is considered to be a leading cause of death attributed to foodborne illness in the United States. More than 40 million men, women, and children in the U.S. carry the Toxoplasma parasite, but very few have symptoms because the immune system usually keeps the parasite from causing illness. However, women newly infected with Toxoplasma during or shortly before pregnancy and anyone with a compromised immune system should be aware that toxoplasmosis can have severe consequences.”
“Toxoplasmosis is considered one of the neglected parasitic infections of the United States, a group of five parasitic diseases that have been targeted by CDC for public health action.”

Taenia Solium: often refered to as “the pork tapeworm” “The larval stage of the pork tapeworm (Taenia solium) infects the human nervous system, causing neurocysticercosis. This disease is one of the main causes of epileptic seizures in many less developed countries and is also increasingly seen in more developed countries because of immigration from endemic areas. Little information is available on the natural evolution of taeniasis or cysticercosis.”

Gut Fungi-
“Given the widely accepted bacteria-fungi associations and paucity of mycobiota-specific studies in neurological disease, this review discusses the potential role fungi may play in multiple sclerosis and other neurological diseases. Herein, we provide an overview of recent advances in gut mycobiome research and discuss the plausible role of both intestinal and non-intestinal fungi in the context of neuroimmune and neurodegenerative conditions.”

Lesson 3 – Food History
When I learned the above information about microbes, you could say I was; “freaking out” and I was never one to freak out. But this information made me very concerned and I began buying books and watching TED talks and trying potions (because I have been eating the standard American diet my whole life). I was amassing a bunch of information and decided to start writing down the information I learned. Below is that information. There isn’t one company’s patented product here. Just the priceless information I recovered from history. But first I think it’s important to understand the history of foods, and how they affect our body.
I quickly learned that being healthy isn’t just about eating healthy foods but about understanding foods history; and how they affect our human body. For instance, how does our body react to added sugar, dairy, meat and bread? Even better, why do we eat these foods in general? Not many of us know this even know this, we just see them as units of energy. Allow me to provide what I discovered for myself. This is pretty basic but the common theme is that in the past humans didn’t have refrigeration or any mass produced cheap foods they could eat whenever they wanted like today. And in the winter plants don’t grow in the northern hemisphere. So to survive the winter they ate a high fat diet of meat and cheese. Only in the past 150 years or so humans could get in a car or train and go buy food whenever they wanted, and throw it in the fridge. These people could only dream of that. Instead for them; every winter could be their last. Humans evolved from great apes who lived in Africa. Great apes were and still are vegan(herbivores). In Africa the tropical conditions allow year round plant growth. Only when humans started moving north did they find themselves in the dangerous winter months, and forced to eat the flesh and milk of animals to survive.
Sugar. 1) A sweet crystalline substance obtained from various plants, especially sugar cane and sugar beet, consisting essentially of sucrose, and used as a sweetener in food and drink. “a spoonful of sugar” -oxford language definition 1
2) (biochemistry) Any of the class of soluble, crystalline, typically sweet-tasting carbohydrates found in living tissues and exemplified by glucose and sucrose. -oxford language definition 2
Glucose – a simple sugar which is an important energy source in living organisms and is a component of many carbohydrates. – oxford language
Sucrose – a compound which is the chief component of cane or beet sugar. -oxford language
Fructose – a hexose sugar found especially in honey and fruit. -oxford language
High fructose corn syrup – a sweetener made from cornstarch, some of whose glucose has been converted to fructose, that is used in commercially produced foods and soft drinks as a cheaper alternative to sucrose. -oxford language
To help us clarify this sugar confusion, I found a video on Stanford healthcare’s YouTube channel with 8 million views with doctor Robert Lustig an Endocrinologist at USCL. He also has a degree in nutritional biochemistry from MIT and went to medical school after. He explains in his talk about the changes in food habits for Americans from 1970 to today. And he says the sugar consumption has doubled! Everything has relatively stayed the same. He explains why this is, and it was pretty simple. Big business loves to put added sugar in EVERYTHING so that we eat more of it, because sugar is addictive. And he says they use a type of sugar that is completely unnatural, and has zero nutritional value. Can you guess? Yes of course high fructose corn syrup. America is the only country where high fructose corn syrup is used instead of natural sugars. He explains that it’s because President Nixon wanted to lower food prices for Americans. So the man he assigned to figure out how to lower prices created high fructose corn syrup, with the help of major food companies. This also started the mass production of processed food. In this talk he basically focuses on sugar’s increase and poses a scientific question of “is processed food good for humans?” Because this sugar increase is directly related to all forms of processed foods. But in this hour and a half talk he dives into the dark side of sugar. To determine if all calories are the same. And he comes to the conclusion that calories from sugar build up in the liver and become visceral fat. Which is the hardest to burn off and extremely unhealthy. So his conclusion is that a calorie is not a calorie, and sugar should be regulated as a controlled substance like alcohol.
Dairy- We all know dairy products are high in fat, and that it comes from cows, and that humans have been drinking it for hundreds or thousands of years. What we, or what I never really understood is that 99% of humans didn’t have the luxury of buying a gallon of milk and throwing it in the fridge for the week. They didn’t even have refrigerators until the mid 1800’s (rich people had maids to refill the ice box so they had cold milk whenever they wanted). So the milk people consumed was mainly from baked goods and cheeses. They never could just chug a glass of mild like I did my whole childhood. Unfortunately, this blatant gap in understanding could be a big reason people struggle with weight loss and that is that dairy isn’t supposed to be consumed daily, especially in high amounts. There’s so much saturated fat in dairy so it has a ton of calories. That’s why our ancestors would consume it. So they wouldn’t starve. It’s the same with cheese. It gave people some fat on their bones. And gave them enough energy to do their 6-9 at a factory or on a farm. And by 6-9 I’m talking about the extreme work schedules and environments humans have worked in that had demanding hours and demanding labor. From literal slavery, low income factory work, farming, construction, war… Most jobs were very demanding and people needed to have high fat diets so they wouldn’t pass out. I hope this helps you to be grateful for dairy and understand its true purpose in our health today. And that is it kept our ancestors from not starving to death. Our perspective on dairy is perverted by dairy marketing corporations that make billions a year. Specifically, in dairy farming they kill or sell male cows and keep female cows in a space they can’t even turn around, all year. They are artificially inseminated by having a giant syringe inserted into their vagina. They are continuously inseminated almost right after they give birth. This is because the only time a female’s body produces milk is when they are pregnant. And these cows are being used like a poor farmer’s tractor, run into the ground till there’s nothing but parts left. They are used until they die. Never to go outside, never eat grass, have a natural romantic relationship with a bull. Or even be able to raise any of her offspring. And when she’s too old they send her to the slaughter house. And this is millions of cows. If you feel cows are here to give us milk, understand that these dairy farmers could substitute cows for dogs, horses, pigs, lizards, humans, goats, chickens. Female mammals, reptiles, and even some sea life and insects all are genetically created to provide “high fat and sugar liquid” for their new born babies. So just to be clear experts will say only mammals make “milk”. This silliness is getting out of hand and this chronic disease problem and neurological problems could be attributed to daily dairy…alone. When I was younger I never really ate a big breakfast. I would have lunch, get home from school, and chug a big glass of milk and often refill it a few times (I have been caught drinking out of a gallon a few times even). Because it filled me up so fast. I was probably drinking 300-500 calories in two minutes. I have also always had a few extra pounds of fat on me my whole life (until I learned about microbes). And I contribute a lot of that to consuming too much milk and ice cream on a daily basis. And I thought milk was good for me.
Milk– an opaque white fluid rich in fat and protein, secreted by female mammals for the nourishment of their young. – Oxford languages
Cheese– A food made from the pressed curds of milk. -Oxford languages
Cheese was great for our starving ancestors because it was a way to preserve the high calorie fatty milk and concentrate the fat. Cheese is 70% pure fat. It’s great if you’re starving and cold because each slice can have 100 calories and a whole block usually has 20-30 slices or more. This made cheese expensive. I imagine families would be saving up to be able to have cheese in the winter. And owning a cow was more valuable than just its milk and meat. It was a cheese machine. Today Europe is still obsessed with cheese, and that love is strong here in America too. But to clarify, Europe is obsessed with rich, flavorful cheese, and they rarely have it daily, it’s more of a dessert or for special occasions, and consumed in small amounts. And the support from the people in Europe has allowed businesses that make cheese to stay around for hundreds of years. Specifically, in Italy and France. There are many videos on YouTube about these semi ancient cheese shops. But unfortunately in America corporations are the ones making most of the cheese. And of course we get some imported cheese from Europe. But most is made in a laboratory and mass produced. Cheese is extremely high in cholesterol, and has been linked to cancer and dementia by many of the doctors above. Cheese is stale milk, pressed and molded. It’s a way to preserve the fat and proteins from milk.
Eggs- An oval or round object laid by a female bird, reptile, fish, or invertebrate, usually containing a developing embryo. The eggs of birds are enclosed in a chalky shell, while those of reptiles are in a leathery membrane. – oxford languages.
Butter- A pale yellow edible fatty substance made by churning cream and used as a spread or in cooking. Oxford languages.
Milk, cheese, eggs and butter are great food choices if you’re not sure when your next meal will be. They are high in saturated fats and cholesterol, have lots of calories, and have some protein.
Meat- The flesh of an animal (especially a mammal) as food. -Oxford language.
Grass fed meat- Before 50 years ago all cows ate grass. Cows in Spain, Italy and Brazil still commonly graze on grass. Still has high fat and high cholesterol.
Corn fed cows- Cows only ever in human history started eating corn in the past 50 years. It’s cheaper and more profitable for meat companies because they can keep cows in a prison cell and feed them corn all day long. In the Midwest of America cornfields are everywhere and this corn has become the backbone of all food in America, Mainly just to feed the billions of cows, chickens and pigs.
To show the demand for cows end just as far back as 1867, here is an article by The Wyoming Historical Society about the history of Wyoming’s cattle boom. Below is a quote from the article that shows how valuable cows were; being sold for $2000 in today’s currency for one healthy cow. And that a man’s net worth was calculated in how many cows he owned.
https://www.wyohistory.org/encyclopedia/wyoming-cattle-boom-1868-1886
“Supply soon outstripped demand. At the end of the war, a 3-year-old steer in Massachusetts sold for $86.00, according to an 1867 Department of Agriculture report. The same critter in Texas, probably a little leaner, went for only $9.46. Cattle buyer Joseph McCoy said of this era: “Then dawned a time in Texas that a man’s poverty was estimated by the number of cattle he possessed.”
History of why humans eat meat: Humans started eating meat thousands of years after traveling to colder areas where plants and fruits didn’t grow in the winter. Like northern Europe and the Netherlands. Where we get the Homosapien from. But the hidden truth is that humans evolved from the great ape in Africa. And the first humans lived in Africa for long time living in one with nature. Over time they moved north and meat consumption was necessary for survival. And it simply became a habit. Only up until 100 years ago humans didn’t know when they would get their next meal. I’m 24 right and all of our grandparents lived through the great depression. A time of immense pain and suffering. Food was scarce, jobs were gone. And many people choose suicide. Then WW2 started and the government was able to spend billions of dollars producing war equipment, getting ready to invade Germany. After winning the war and surviving the depression, Americans needed a way to relax. So the government passed a bill in the mid 1900s that gave subsidies to meat companies so they could expand at an unnatural rate and be able to provide meat to all Americans on a daily basis. After a few years these companies became extremely profitable. And factory farming was created and justified. To this day the US government gives billions of dollars in subsidies to meat and dairy companies. So that means the government gives them money to cover expenses so they can provide their valuable products to Americans at low prices, which is actually totally unhealthy and unnatural for humans to be eating.
Bread- Food made of flour, water, and yeast or another leavening agent, mixed together and baked. -oxford languages
The first known consumption of bread was 8000 BC. Created by the Egyptians. Bread has a lot of calories because flour is concentrated wheat. This was great for our starving ancestors because it could be eaten with other plant based foods or meats to add extra calories. And as time went on breads evolved all over the world becoming a main focus in many meals. http://lyonbakery.com/the-origin-of-bread/
Homemade bread- Made with raw ingredients. Takes time and practice. Gets stale in 1-2 days.
Mass produced breads- Made so that it can be sold at low cost. In the 1960’s this happened and was allowed by the government to supply cheap food to a growing population. This bread stays soft for days or weeks. Has preservatives, sugar, and many other synthetic chemicals.
Processed foods- Synthetic science experiments created to keep food prices low. Perfect mix of salt, sugar, and flavoring so not only make it taste good, but literally make you addicted. All the actual food/ fruits/ vegetables are frozen and have no fiber content. So big food makes concentrates of these foods and calls them commodities. So they can be patented and sold at a higher price. And they magically become intellectual property. Just like pharmaceuticals. These processed food companies are like farmers. But instead of harvesting foods. These companies harvest cash. Their goal is to make as much money as possible. In fact, it is their legal obligation to do what is in the company’s best interest. And the company is only concerned about creating profit; and high stock prices.
Frozen fruits/ vegetables- Can’t be digested by microbes. When fiber is frozen it destroys the molecular structure of the cells in the food.
Frozen processed food- Created by big food to make cooking very easy but it comes at the cost of the food having no benefit to the microbes. So it might fill you up but you’ll be hungry again soon. Also they are packed with sugar, salt and fat to make them addicting.
Fruits- The sweet and fleshy product of a tree or other plant that contains seed and can be eaten as food. -oxford language.
Fruits are packed with fiber, phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and have zero saturated fats. Has natural sugars called glucose. Complex carbohydrate, which is a fancy way of saying that it has nutritional value that microbes love. “It breaks down slowly so the body can absorb nutrients.” This is what experts call complex carbs which completely disregards the existence of your microbiome.
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324431
As I have said fruits have good bacteria in them and fiber which feeds them. So they are a perfect food made for humans. This is why they digest slowly, so the microbes can digest the vitamins and minerals.
GMO fruits- Made for mass production, and global travel. People speculate that GMO fruit has much less nutrition value than natural fruits. Humans have been cross breeding fruits for thousands of years but only recently we have begun to modify genes of fruits creating synthetic fruit that is totally unnatural. This is very confusing what they do to manipulate genes, but they alter the nutritional content so much the food companies are unsure if the fruit even has nutritional content. And again there goal is not to make healthy food but to make money. These fruits will take weeks to go rotten as well.
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/genetically-modified-foods-myths-vs-facts
Organic fruits- Packed with pure nutrients. Strong tastes and flavors. More expensive because it must be grown in a natural climate unless grown in a greenhouse which takes a lot of work to maintain. Gets rotten much faster. And they are very alkaline.
Vegetables- A plant or part of a plant used as food, typically as accompaniment to meat or fish, such as a cabbage, potato, carrot, or bean. -oxford language.
packed with fiber, phytonutrients, nutrients, vitamins, minerals and protein!
https://www.webmd.com/diet/health-benefits-vegetables#1 webmd.com article on vegetables.
GMO vegetables – The primary drive for GMO vegetables in the US has nothing to do with providing Americans with plant based foods, or their microbes. But instead provide livestock plant based foods like corn; that is cheap and makes them get really fat as fast as possible. So most vegetables are still nutrient dense and have not been modified as much as fruit. Because vegetables are hardier and can stay fresh longer and can be grown in cold climates. Kale, cabbage, lettuce, beets, carrots, and many more need cold climates to grow. They are usually grown in the fall or late winter. Also GMO vegetable producers get massive subsidies to cover the cost to buy million dollar tractors and other equipment so they can sell it to meat companies at low costs. This is again mostly corn and sugarcane.
https://www.fda.gov/food/agricultural-biotechnology/gmo-crops-animal-food-and-beyond – FDA on GMO vegetables. Justifying synthetic corn and other vegetables.
https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/what-should-you-eat/vegetables-and-fruits/Harvard on why a diet of high fruits and vegetables is good for the body. Basic info and confusing studies. No connection to microbes made in the entire article. Very disappointing.
Nuts- A fruit consisting of a hard or tough shell around an edible kernel.
“he was cracking nuts with his teeth” -Oxford language
Organic nuts- Packed with protein, fiber, antioxidants, healthy fats, high in calories so a great energy source. Complex carbs so microbes love them. A little more expensive because they mostly come from farms overseas. Usually smaller and more flavorful than GMO nuts.
https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/8-benefits-of-nuts#TOC_TITLE_HDR_12
GMO nuts – GMO nuts are designed to be bigger than organic. Said to have less nutrients. They taste bad without salt or sugar. Are covered in pesticides and additives. These give it an unnatural shelf life for the thousand mile trip they take to get to stores in the US. Where they are sold for maybe a dollar less than nutritious smaller organic nuts.
Fats: A natural oily or greasy substance occurring in animal bodies, especially when deposited as a layer under the skin or around certain organs. -Oxford Language
Oils – Are fats that are liquid at room temperature, like vegetable oils used in cooking.
https://www.myplate.gov/eat-healthy/more-key-topics
Extra virgin olive oil – Pure crushed olives.
Olive oil – Crushed oiled with synthetic preservatives.
Both are extremely high in fat and because of that extremely high in calories.
Coconut oil: Said to be an extremely healthy oil and antibacterial.
Alcohol: a colorless volatile flammable liquid that is produced by the natural fermentation of sugars and is the intoxicating constituent of wine, beer, spirits, and other drinks, and is also used as an industrial solvent and as fuel. –oxford language.
We love alcohol especially in America. Holidays, birthdays, and weekends all have one thing in common; Alcohol. And unfortunately for our microbes from high school to college weekends are spent drinking large amounts of this liquid poison. So by the time most of us are 25 our microbes have been depleted by this toxic drink alone; besides the meat, sugary foods, and processed foods that usually go with alcohol. Alcohol especially hard liquor kill microbes; it wipes them out. Alcohol does more to our bodies than kill our microbes like kill brain cells and acidify our blood but I’d just like to add how bad it is for our microbes to be drinking alcohol. So how is alcohol sales legal? Well unfortunately it’s hard to prove a direct relationship scientifically because the only way to test this is to use rats. If you look at any medical research they will have 20 different test and have a conclusion of “more tests should be done”. That is why modern science doesn’t like talking about microbes or parasites because it’s not as simple as do one test and you have an answer. These are microscopic organisms and there are thousands of different kinds. So scientist and doctors are just like “yeah were not sure and move on.”

Lesson 4 – Food Secrets
I hope you enjoyed that quick summary of foods we eat. Here are the solutions I collected to naturally restore my microbiome.
To start off I will repeat the silver bullet secret to dodging chronic disease, effortlessly maintain low body fat, and slow down the bodies aging process, and be full of energy; and that is to limit consumption of animal protein and adopt a plant based diet. This gives the microbes a chance to calm down and focus on healing, building, and protecting the body. And not constantly working to neutralize pathogens and toxins that come with a standard American diet.
So how do we get a healthy microbiome? Eating more fruits, vegetables and nuts. Going vegan a few days a week. Going vegetarian. This increase in alkaline food gives the microbes time to get the nutrients they need in order to operate at their best. This will allow the host to have a stronger immune system because the microbes and the immune system work hand in hand. When the microbes are fully nourished they can also repair muscle tissue at a faster rate. When we are constantly eating processed food our microbes have to focus on protecting the host’s organs and can’t spend time repairing tissue. The good bacteria in our bodies that is vital for life is at given to us by our mother at birth. Babies that get C-sections don’t get the full microbiome of the mother and it’s known that C-section babies have a weaker immune system because of it. I find this knowledge about why you want to eat these foods relieving. It makes sense. The negative parasites need added sugar and animal protein to survive and reproduce. After two weeks on a strict vegan or low dairy vegetarian diet the parasite (pathogens) have no choice but to exit the host. Not only does a plant based diet keep the microbes strong but it helps the body’s blood stay alkaline. I talk about this next in the alkaline vs acidic section next but it is another major reason to go plant based. When you eat mostly animal protein, sugar and processed food it lowers the ph of the bodies blood. This makes our body leach alkaline metals from our bones and muscles to maintain an alkaline ph so that pathogens can’t run rampant through the body. Pathogens and bacteria can only survive in acidic environments. Over time this leaching of minerals will age the body and weaken it to a point where chronic disease can develop. And just as the pathogens need an acidic environment the microbes and T cells from the immune system need an alkaline environment.

Here are key terms/ cleansing habits that you don’t learn in health class, you don’t even learn about it medical school, your physician and psychiatrist have no clue about, and the executives of the companies that sell meat and processed synthetic foods make 50 billion a year are terrified of us understanding. Because we will completely stop buying these unhealthy acidic foods.
Alkaline vs Acidic Foods
Why is a vegan diet, or plant based diet so effective? Well it comes down to acidity levels. Many are unaware of the positive side effects our body experiences when we eat alkaline foods (plant based, vegan foods). And the deadly side effects of eating acidic food (meat and processed foods). This really drove the vegan diet home for me.
To summarize, it’s all about the environment, our internal environment. When we eat acidic foods that have a PH between 1-7 like meat, processed food and added sugar over time our bodies become an acidic environment. An acidic environment is the only environment where parasites, cancer, bad bacteria, and chronic disease can survive. They cannot survive in an alkaline body, only an acidic one. So when we stop eating acidic foods and we switch to an alkaline lifestyle our internal environment changes. What I mean by an alkaline lifestyle is that you utilize substitutes for common acid food. Like fruit instead of candy, and vegetables instead of meat. Alkaline foods are between 7-14 on the PH scale. In this range parasites, cancers, and other chronic diseases cannot survive, and microbes thrive. Our blood is naturally at 7.35-7.45 (14).
Acidosis- Acidosis is a state when your body is fighting to keep the blood alkaline and because of this the body starts “leaching” alkaline metals like calcium and more from bones and other organs. Over time this leads to osteoporosis, speeds up the aging process on a cellular level, chronic fatigue, insomnia, depression and worst of all allows pathogens(parasites), viruses, and bacteria to go unchecked through the bloodstream and travel to whatever organ they want. (7)
When your body and blood are in a neutral or slightly alkaline ph. The body works at optimal health and the microbes and the immune system are in charge and not the pathogens. So they can easily fight off pathogens that enter the body with no symptoms to host. And then can continue to help the body heal and grow.
https://www.healthline.com/health/ph-of-blood -this article talks about blood alkalinity but has no connection between food and alkalinity.
Switching your body from an acidic environment to an alkaline one is not an easy task. There are many different lifestyle choices that go into it. Below are tools that I learned about to help transition my body to an alkaline one. But for me after learning this information it makes the switch a lot easier. The big companies absolutely don’t want us to understand this. They don’t make money when we know the truth, only when we accept lies and misinformation.
https://www.naturallifeenergy.com/alkaline-producing-mucus-reducing-nutrional-guide/ Author who was inspired by Dr. Sebi and has a website for updated Dr. Sebi approved alkaline foods.
I read a few books about alkalinity and they are in the alkaline vs acidic books at the end. They are less than 100 pages long. And packed with information.
Caloric Intake
Most of us love to eat food, any food. As long as it tastes good. But unfortunately foods that taste really good, are extremely high in calories (in the standard American diet). Everyone should understand this info on caloric intake if you want to lose weight and keep it off. And if you want to still be able to eat as much as you want, just have to go plant based, as Chef AJ explains.
So we have all heard that we should have a 2000 calorie diet. That’s great but unfortunately most restaurants have 700-1000 calorie meals. And processed foods like chips, candy, and cheese are so good and addicting that in two minutes we can eat 500 calories of them. So when you have the information I’m about to give in the back of your head. You suddenly become conscious of what you’re eating. And discipline isn’t needed to lose weight anymore, only logic. And on a plant based diet, there’s no need to count calories.
Vegetables only have 60-195 calories per pound. Fruits have 140-420cals/pound. Starchy vegetables 310-620 cals/pound. Legumes(beans) 310-780 cals/lb. Meat 400-870 cals/lb. Breads 920-1360 cals/lb. Sugars 1200-1800 cals/lb. Dry cereals/baked chips 1480-1760 cals/lb. Nuts/seeds 2400-3200 cals/lb. Butter 3200 cals/lb, and oils are 4010 cals/lb. Understanding this is a lot of current doctors’ best tool for losing weight and becoming healthy. The doctors I mentioned earlier pair this info with plant based protein info. And they help patients lose weight and get healthy just by suggesting to only eat plants based with no calorie counting. Forksoverknives.com offers a free meal plan to count caloric intake. I haven’t used it yet but my professor suggested we try it. After learning about caloric intake I started to just lose weight by making better choices armed with this info. It’s pretty simple so I don’t want to spend too much time on it.

Tea and Herbal Tea
Tea and herbal tea have been one of the biggest products in the world for the past few thousand years. Not only does it taste great and have low calories, but also have medical benefits. And I’m not just talking about five or ten herbs. But hundreds of herbs each with a different flavor and medical benefits. In the books I read about herbs each one had between 50 – 500 herbs that are considered “food herbs” like basil and parsley. “Medical herbs” are more derived from tree barks and roots and are much stronger and should not be taken casually. All the herbs I mention below and in the Encapsulating Capsule Doc are food herbs and I have really enjoyed testing them out in tea. In the herbal books at the bottom of the doc they talk a lot about medical herbs but I haven’t tried any because they are more serious conditions, and I’m just trying to heal my microbiome. Some of these food herbs taste horrible and some are so flavorful. Not only do they all have unique tastes and medical benefits, but they are very cheap. So cheap that even me working a 9-5 can still afford to have more of a tea selection than any emperor or king of old(joke). Tea from all around the world. Usually a pound of raw tea leaves on Amazon is ten dollars. Technology has enabled us to be able to try herbs from all around the world with a click of a button. I have really enjoyed being able to sample herbal teas and find ones I like. I would love to open up a herbal tea cafe with 50-100 different types of herbal tea and have their medical benefits displayed.
Tea
What is Tea? Wasn’t a tax tea the reason the Americans finally started a revolution in America? Something like that. I gave up coffee my junior year because coffee is acidic. And I fell in love with tea like the American heroes of old who attacked and burned British ships.
“That’s a good question! Tea is the second most consumed drink in the world, surpassed only by water. An often-surprising fact to tea novices is that all teas (Black, Green, Oolong, White, and Pu’erh) come from the same plant. The scientific name of this versatile plant is Camellia Sinensis (it’s actually related to the lovely camellia flowers seen in botanical gardens and landscapes). Camellia sinensis is a sub-tropical, evergreen plant native to Asia but is now grown around the world. So, in short, “tea” is anything derived from the Camellia sinensis plant. Anything else, while sometimes called “tea”, is more accurately referred to as an herbal tea or tisane. Tisanes include chamomile, rooibos and fruit teas. We’ll learn about those in a minute.” teaclass.com graciously offers on their homepage.
https://www.teaclass.com/lesson_0101.html Teaclass.com is a great resource for learning about tea and herbal tea.
I thought I was drinking tea this whole time but I was actually drinking herbal tea as they clarified for me. I started using tea bags, and it started getting expensive and I found out about loose tea. Loose tea is the way to go because it is extremely cheap to get dry herbs in bulk, you just need to get a steeper which is what everyone in history used. In the east they used clay steepers. I have a few metal ones and I haven’t bought tea bags since I got them.
Healthy Microbe Friendly Sweeteners
Sugar is a toxin and destroys microbes and feeds pathogens. Artificial sweeteners apparently also negatively impact microbes. Here are some natural tasty microbe friendly sweeteners I use.
-Hibiscus- extremely sweet herbal flower.
–Raw honey: antibacterial, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory. Good for the throat and lungs. Lowers cholesterol and blood pressure (2).
-Stevia: plant that grows naturally with zero calories. I grew some last year. It’s very sweet. One leaf is even too much for me
-Dark Chocolate: a great way I’ve started sweetening tea is by adding dark chocolate. Cocoa has multiple health benefits.

Herbs and Spices
Humans have used herbs for thousands of years. Only for the past 80 years have we moved away from this style of medicine, natural medicine, and started using patented drugs, and unnatural concentrates. This especially goes for medicine in the United States because we have only been around for a few hundred years. Chinese medicine, Ayurveda in India, African tribal medicine, Mayan South American Medicine, Mediterranean Medicine, Native American Medicine, and even European Folk medicine have been around for thousands of years. Over time trade has brought herbal medicines and spices throughout Europe, and European countries have adopted so many forms of cooking by implementing these herbs and cooking styles and making it their own. So all over the world herbal medicine is culturally embedded in the people. Except the United states. In the US whenever someone talks about herbs they are considered a braindead pothead(joke). But seriously this is the truth. We don’t believe in herbal medicine because we are used to the quick fix. And why would we want to stop using the quick fix from our doctor? The issue we have is that America is riddled with chronic disease. Unlike anywhere else in the world we suffer from obesity, chronic disease, and chronic depression. We rely on waiting till we’re sick to start taking medication. And the only time we eat herbs is for the flavor, when they serve it at a restaurant. We don’t even cook in America, most of us don’t know how. We throw things (synthetic food) in the microwave and the oven. Yet all over the world cooking is the most important cultural treasure you can pass onto your children. Even in other “civilized societies;” not just tribes in the jungle. They are connected to how the food will affect their body. Understanding how these foods and herbs affect the body was so cool to me. We have a term in America, “nothings free.” I think myself and many feel that since herbs are so cheap they couldn’t have medical benefits just flavors. But that couldn’t be more wrong of a perspective. Every food herb has unique qualities that benefit our body even if we don’t see it. And this is totally understandable because the FDA doesn’t even test herbs for medical benefits, just lets big pharma test what they want (they recently tested like two herbs). Studies proving the medical benefits of herbs with science are happening all over the world. Except America. Herbs have flavor, nutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and more, they team up with the microbiome to help them cleanse pathogens or aid in cleansing other organs. Below are some amazing medical herbs you can get anywhere and as you’ll see, they have much more than tasty flavor.
Here are some of our (human race) favorite herbs and spices, and what they do for our bodies. These are the typical things at every supermarket or on Amazon. And you can easily grow them in your backyard which I talk about in part 9.
I use some of these herbs for cooking food, as loose tea, and of course encapsulating. I get much more into how I use herbs in ‘Encapsulating Capsules.’ But first I want to give a little history on herbs, showing that these herbs were more valuable than gold and jewels. Throughout history rich people had a higher demand for these exotic spices so they could keep themselves and the ones they loved healthy. And to experience exotic flavors. I imagine that they would spend more on herbal medicines than on expensive fancy things. Just like we do in America today, except we have insurance. For the common man death was inescapable. So when people instantly bring up that the life expectancy was low before modern medicine they are not including that wealthy families, emperors, kings and queens mostly lived to old age because they employed some kind of medicine man or woman who was well versed in herbal knowledge from around the world. Here is some amazing information I read from the Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine(5) that shows how important herbal knowledge was all around the world. Documents of herbal knowledge is what modern medicine evolved from. Here are some of these documents.
Egypt- Ebers papyrus. Myrrh, castor oil, garlic. 1500 BCE.
India- Vedas, epic poems with herbal knowledge written in c. 1500 BCE.
India- Charaka Samhita, contains more than 350 herbal medicines. 400 BCE.
China- Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine. 1st century BCE
China- Divine Husbandman’s Classic. 364 entries and 252 are herbal medicines. 1st century CE
Greece- Hippocrates, known as the father of modern medicine, wrote dozens of books and many were about herbal medicine. He even said that rituals are not necessary because disease is physical.
Greece- De Materia. 600 herbs. Translated all around the world. This was used in Europe until the late 17th century. Author made the first ever medical picture book version of his works for the daughter of Roman Emperor Flavius Avicius Olybrius. This contained 400 pages of color illustrations.
Italy- Galen, physical to Roman Emperor Marcus Aurilus had a massive role in using Hippocrates teachings and spreading them even more.
Europe/America- when Christopher Columbus returned from America he didn’t just bring gold, he also brought many herbs with him that were soon common in European apothecaries.
Europe- Peracelus, a medical explorer who was convinced that people must continue to evolve medicine by “experience and hard work(probably using farm animals as test subjects and wasn’t just eating everything in the forest).” Peracelus had a quote that is, “What a doctor needs is not eloquence or knowledge of language and books, but profound knowledge of nature and her ways.” He is known as the father of modern chemistry and believed that learning how to grow herbs locally was much more realistic than relying on expensive herbs from around the world.
After Paracelsus, western medicine slowly inched forward to become more technically correct and discarded most Chinese and Ayurvedic philosophy, and especially a relationship with nature. I think this herbal medical history and information is fascinating and will definitely write more books exploring this knowledge. But for now all the information above was ALL fromThe Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine(6), by Andrew Cheveallier a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists in Exeter, UK.
I am not a scientist or doctor but if you google it you can find many articles with the science on how these herbs can help us. I will summarize the key attributes that I have found in them, not dive into the science of how it works. My hope is that this will encourage you to fact check me and see for yourself how many articles, books and studies have been written globally on even just one of these herbs for medical use in today’s world of science.
